Calendar 2012

We are going to continue our pattern of the first meeting in a month to be a somewhat in-depth presentation on a topic and then the second meeting a discussion of our practice and reflection to deepen our understanding of the topic. We are focusing first on the basic principles of Buddhism, what they mean to us in our lives.

Our aim is to provide a forum for experienced as well as beginning practitioners who wish to deepen their dharma practice. As lesbians we have a unique perspective and these meetings will provide an opportunity to share that perspective.

In January, February and March we will be devoting our time in sangha to a review and study of the 4 noble truths. Feb and Mar will be devoted to talking about the way out of suffering: the eight-fold path. The 8 steps on the path are divided into 3 areas: wisdom, ethical conduct and mental discipline. The list of 8 are: (Wisdom) 1. Right view, 2. Right intention (Ethical conduct) 3. Right speech, 4. Right action, 5. Right livelihood (Mental discipline) 6.Right effort, 7. Right mindfulness, 8. Right concentration.

January The Four Noble Truths:

January 10 The Truth of Suffering (Dukkha) and the Cause of Suffering (Clinging)

January 24 This meeting will be an opportunity to deepen our understanding of this first part of the Buddha's Awakening statement and realization. There will be a brief review of what was presented last meeting, to be followed by our insights, and questions. I would suggest that you take sometime to inquire into- What Suffering is to you in your life at this time.
